In addition to everything being connected, there is a finite amount of energy and mass in the universe, and neither can be destroyed only changed in form. The mass and energy on the earth can be created (brought onto the earth) or destroyed (go somewhere else in the universe). The mass and energy in the universe can’t be created or destroyed though; only transferred around. Natural and human made disasters create and/or destroy mass and energy on earth but transfer it to and from the rest of the universe.
Let’s consider war as a human disaster that effects the earth negatively. It destroys human lives and structures. Both of those have mass and energy that are being destroyed. The mass of the structures goes into the sky as debris but is still matter/mass. The mass of the bodies eventually turn to dust, which is very small matter too. Where the energy goes is debatable but I believe a few different things happen to lost energy.
